It’s been over a decade since Stanley Dudu established himself as an artist of repute after graduation from art school. His love for uncompromising feminine splendours and nostalgic childhood narratives amongst other themes he likes to express in various media, particularly in charcoals and pastels, has earned him excellence in his artistic career of three solos and well over thirty group exhibitions nationally and internationally. His artistic exploits are numerous. In 2010, Stanley won second prize in huge cash sums in the prestigious Nigerian Breweries /African Artist Foundation’s National Art competition and also won amongst others, first place and an all-paid expense trip to the Spanish capital, Madrid, courtesy of the Embassy of Spain in Nigeria, in her 5th Anniversary and Annual National Art Contest in the same year. His works are in the collection of many private and public institutions such as Guaranty Trust Bank, Union Bank, Chevron Nigeria Limited, Delta State House, Women War Memorial Centre and a few others. Stanley’s works featured in the 2015 Arthouse Contemporary art auction and Terra Kulture/Mydrim Gallery art auction (TKMG) in 2018 respectively.
The art of Stanley Dudu has received commendable appreciation over time by Nigerians and the expatriate community. A huge number of his works are in foreign collections in Lebanon, UK and US, particularly in the states of Texas and Louisana. He lives and works in his home and residence studio in Lagos.
